Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres taped Friday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday. It was the same day that California’s Supreme Court struck down a California law banning gay marriage. Tune in to this mornings show because rumors are hot and heavy that the television celebrity will be announcing her intention to marry partner Portia de Rossi.

Loose lips may sink ships but audience members apparently let slip the fact that a big announcement will be a part of today’s show. Portia, 35, was reportedly in the studio and she and Ellen, 50, received huge applause when Ellen declared their intentions. She was quoted as saying:

I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote.”

The court ruling means same-sex couples could tie the knot in as little as a month so it could be a June celebration for the celebrity couple. Those interested in taking advantage of the landmark decision should not dally because religious and social conservatives are seeking to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would undo the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.

DeGeneres and the glamorous de Rossi of Ally McBeal and Nip/Tuck fame have been a familiar couple at Hollywood events. Previously, DeGeneres had a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche
