Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz is speaking out about her controversial, semi-topless Miley Cyrus photos she shot for Vanity Fair.
“I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted," she said in a statement. "Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together, and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it.
"The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”
The 15-year-old issued a statement saying she was "embarrassed" over the photos and apologized to her fans.
The Disney Channel claims the magazine "manipulated" her, but a Vanity Fair rep says, "Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley."
Michele Combs, a spokesperson for the Christian Coalition of America, tells Us that Disney should reprimand the Hannah Montana singer for the photo.
Combs adds that Leibovitz has "a reputation for doing racy things ... Miley should have thought this out before she agreed to go in front of Annie."

I love Annie Leibovitz work
1At the end of the day, it's just semi-topless and its not as if her kid fans would be buying this magazine anyways! The only thing is that 15 is maybe a bit too young to do this kinda stuff..
2MILEY IS OVERRATED.
Annie Leibovitz is one of the best, the pictures of Angelina she shot was AWESOME. its the best in history.
3I appreciate Athe work of nnie Leibovitz but Miley is still a child and those pictures should not have been released for public viewing. Vanity Fair is a grown woman's magazine. Why in the world would they have a child in there? Miley should be posing (with all her clothes on) for Seventeen magazine or something else for her age group. I blame her parents for this happening since Miley is still a minor and supposed to be under their care. I don't care how much money the child makes. No excuse!!
4regardless of it being artistic, it is way too sexy for being a picture of a fifteen year old girl, especially a girl that so many girls wanna be. *sigh* why'd she have to make the photo so sexual, when leibovitz has taken so many other kinds of pictures with different feeling to them??
5I do not find the Vanity Fair picture sexual in any way. It does not evoke the kinds of emotions that make level-headed people want to go on a romp with a 15-year old. She's not looking into the camera like, "hey baby you wanna go at it?" Just because she is showing a little back-flesh does not mean this picture is sexual and anyone who gets sexual feeling looking at it is putting those thoughts in their own head.
6It looks like a Renoir painting:

So is Renoir painting sexual material since we can clearly see this woman's back and buttocks?
This is my opinion. If she had different facial expressions I would consider it sexual. But as such I think it's a pretty piture.
